You also get audio cues that Xbox owners will immediately recognise when you power them down, mute the microphone or pair the headset, too.Īdjusting volume or balancing game and voice chat is nothing short of a pleasure on the Xbox Wireless Headset thanks to the rubberized dials that we’ve seen in another of Microsoft’s audio products, the Microsoft Surface Headphones. Powering up the headset, which is done by pressing the light green power button located on the left-hand side, greets you with the familiar Xbox Series X boot up sound. The inside of the earcups, which are handily marked with large ‘L’ and ‘R’ letters, also have a faint green hue that seeps through the mesh, as the driver’s are also coated in Xbox’s familiar brand color. The all-black design is embellished with tasteful touches, such as the thin green rings that surround the outside of each earcup and the embossed Xbox logo on the right-hand side. Go into the Atmos app & you can try out different sound profiles or adjust the equalizer how you want.įor Games I choose the Game profile & turn Performance Mode On.įor Movies I choose the Movie profile & turn Detailed On.Microsoft’s Xbox Wireless Headset mirrors the design language of the Xbox Series X to an impressive degree. Then download the Atmos app on your xbox. Make sure your 7X cans are still on their default sound profile (they will be if you havent connected them to your pc/mac & used the steel series software). I’m assuming you wanna use the 7X’s for both movies & gaming. So you can try each of the steel series presets 1 at a time this way on your xbox (leave your settings at stereo uncompressed at first & then if you want you can try adding Windows Sonic DTS HD or Atmos on top of the steel series presets). Basically, whatever audio mode you choose/set your 7X to when using the app on you mac/pc will then make that audio profile the default when you go back to your console. You can download an app from steel series for your mac/pc (if you have one) & you can connect the 7X to it & then mess around with presets or adust the equalizer how you want. Once again, I really don’t know much about these things but this is my personal experience so far. I could hear footsteps and pinpoint their location much better than the other options. I guess I’m going to start testing each setting out in different games but in the meantime someone more knowledgeable than me please help me out!ĮDIT: My first impressions: okay so after trying stereo uncompressed, Dolby atmos and windows sonic I’ve found that, while Dolby seemed to give me the best quality sound for things like watching movies and cutscenes, using my headphones on stereo uncompressed gave me better directional sound. out of these four options I have no clue which I should choose. Is this the best option for me? I also noticed that I could choose between DTS Headphone:X, Stereo uncompressed and Dolby Atmos. I noticed that my audio settings on the Xbox were defaulted to Windows Sonic for headphones. I should add that I know literally NOTHING about this sort of thing so I’d really appreciate the help. I recently just purchased a pair of Steelseries Arctis 7x headphones for my Xbox Series X and I need help deciding which audio settings on the Xbox X will optimize my listening experience for my steelseries headphones.
